Nissan Frontier Engines by Year
The Nissan Frontier engine catalog lists six engine rows across the catalog years. Read each engine code alongside its listed year range; the range shows when that engine appears in the catalog, not a rating or a guarantee that it fits every trim.
The engines change by year: KA24DE and VG33E are listed for 1999–2004, while VG33ER is listed for 2000–2004. For 2005–2019, the catalog lists QR25DE and VQ40DE; VQ38DD is listed for 2020–2022. These entries show which engine codes are associated with each period, rather than every possible year or trim combination.
For a specific truck, verify its engine and equipment using the vehicle identification label or records. If you need a figure or fitment detail that is not listed here, confirm it on the door jamb or in the owner's manual.
