The cruise control will not coast down hill without decelerating up to 5 miles below set speed, so 55, if your set at 60, etc. The truck has the small 2.5 4cyl engine, but it will climb the first hill perfectly fine without missing a beat, just when it starts coming down the backside of the hill you can physically feel a drag like the throttle plate is completely closed. Vehicle Speed Control
Set cruise control at 55 mph on an interstate highway. When going down a slight hill, speed increases and the cruise control will disengage. At the bottom of the hill, speed drops approximately five (5) miles below set speed before cruise control reengages.
